LPSS works through mold issues

by Nathan Stubbs

The Lafayette Parish School System says its mold issues will be old news by the start of the school year. Mold was recently discovered by work crews at Ernest Gallet Elementary. LPSS spokesperson Angie Simoneaux says crews should finish at Gallet next week. After work is complete, air quality tests will be done to ensure that all the mold is gone and that the pod is safe. Then, letters will be sent home to the parents and staff explaining what was done and what the findings of the tests are.

Crews are also finishing up work at N.P. Moss Middle related to its water intrusion and should be finished in the next few days. LPSS also plans to begin checking for water intrusion problems at three other elementary schools: Live Oak, J. Wallace James and Charles Burke.
