Alternative medicine for musicians at ACA

by Nathan Stubbs

Been singing the chronic back pain blues? Thrown your shoulder out doing too many Pete Townshend windmills on the guitar? In need of opening up the chakras after playing some mind-bending Ian Anderson-esque flute solos? Today, the Louisiana Cultural Economy Foundation and Healthcare Initiative (LCEF-HI) and “A Healing Arts Collective” begin hosting a series of free and affordable alternative healing sessions for musicians at the Acadiana Center for the Arts. The series, entitled “Healing Arts @ the AcA,” will continue on the first Thursday of the next two months.  Appointments will be available between 10 a.m.-12 p.m. or 2-4 p.m. on these dates. From 1-2 p.m. a presenter will discuss some of the various practices being offered.

Participating health care practitioners include Becca Begnaud, traiteur;  Bryan Boudreaux, chiropractor; Betty Landreneau, trauma/first aid; Betty Vidrine, therapeutic music; Sandy White, integrated energy therapy.  Appointments are available by calling Rachel Nederveld at 739-3988 or via e-mail at [email protected].
