A dozen non-profits get holiday checks

Capital One Bank this week presented 12 area non-profit organizations with checks totalling $29,000 to support an array of education, arts and social-service initiatives. Among the recipients was the Acadiana Center for the Arts, which received a $1,000 check in support of the AcA’s Side Gallery Series. The money will be put towards the 12 exhibits the AcA displays on a monthly basis in their Side Gallery as part of their exhibition series that also includes the Main Gallery and Vault.

Currently on display in the Side Gallery is Dewane Hughes’ “Rosie & Big Daddy Divine Modern Glyphs,” a sculptural investigation into how we as a people/species/culture, and Dewane as an artist, take in information through our daily lives and environments and manipulate such information to find transcendence.

For more information on the AcA’s exhibition series visit AcadianaCenterfortheArts.org or call 233-7060.
