Landrieu pushes back on 'Louisiana Purchase' critics

Sen. Mary Landrieu took to the Senate floor yesterday with an impassioned speech pushing back on critics of the so-called "Louisiana Purchase," a Landrieu-brokered amendment that inserted $300 million in Medicaid funding for Louisiana into the Senate's healthcare reform package. Landrieu was derided in conservative circles, even labeled a prostitute, for what some saw as a classic example of political backroom bargaining in which Landrieu sold her vote.
