Chef Colt Patin at Crawfish Town U.S.A. in Henderson is leading an effort to help out families with premature babies find teeny tiny clothing. Micro premies, babies under five pounds, who have to spend extended stays in the hospital, need doll size onesies, which tend to be hard to find and expensive. So Chef Colt Patin at Crawfish Town U.S.A. is stirring up his best gumbo recipe to aid in the effort, $10 admission gets all the gumbo you can eat, an evening with Nik-L-Beer, and a silent auction and raffle.
Heartstrings and Angel Wings, a non-profit charity organization, was formed in honor of Heath Logan, a Breaux Bridge area premature baby related to some of the founding members. Heath was born 16 weeks too soon and spent over 90 days in the neonatal intensive care unit. The service provides comfort for the families because they can view their loved one in everyday clothing, making things seem at least a little more "normal." Often, the conditions of the birth and coinciding hospitalization are unpredictable and chaotic, as well as overwhelming. Heartstrings and Angel Wings hopes to take a little stress off of the family and provide their baby with clothing.
Regular donations are made to Acadiana area and other Louisiana hospitals: Lafayette General Medical Center (30 babies), Women's and Children's Hospital (54 babies), Woman's Hospital - Baton Rouge (80 babies).
