Crowley native Victoria Reggie Kennedy, wife of the late Sen. Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts, sat down for an exclusive interview with CNN's John King for tonight's premiere edition of his new primetime show, "John King, USA." The show airs weeknights at 6 p.m. on CNN.
The interview is Kennedy's first since Republican Scott Brown was elected to fill her husband's former seat in the Senate. Long credited for bringing balance and stability to her husband on a personal and professional level, she discussed her late husband's legacy and his signature issue of health care reform - less than 24 hours after sweeping health care legislation was passed by the House of Representatives.
Sen. Kennedy died in August. He was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1962 and was serving his ninth term. He called health care reform "the cause of my life."
Vicki Kennedy will be in Lafayette Wednesday, March 31, to deliver the keynote address for Women's History Month, hosted by UL Lafayette. This year's theme is Writing Women Back Into History.
The event is open to the public and will be held at the Cajundome Convention Center. It begins with a continental breakfast at 8 a.m. and includes breakout sessions throughout the day on optimal health, financial security, corporate careers, business startups and community involvement. The conference ends after Kennedy's presentation at 2:45 p.m.
Conference registration is $50. College students can register for $20 with current I.D.
