Fifteenth Judicial District Judge Phyllis Keaty, who is running for the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeal, is leading in fundraising, having taken in $53,000 in five weeks, her campaign reported today. Her campaign finance report, filed April 3 for the period ending March 26, shows $41,000 cash on hand.

Also seeking the seat on Oct. 2 is Lafayette City Judge Frances Bouillion, whose report shows $23,050 in contributions and a $3,000 loan. She has $25,900 cash on hand.

Attorney Jeanne Laborde, the most recent candidate to join the race, reported $1,950 in contributions.

The Louisiana Board of Ethics did not have a campaign finance disclosure for attorney Buzz Durio, who has expressed interest in the seat but has not officially announced that he will be a candidate.

The appellate seat was vacated by the death of Mike Sullivan, whose term was set to expire Dec. 31; qualifying is July 7-9. If necessary, a run-off election would be Nov. 2. The seat is District 3, Section 5, which includes much of Lafayette Parish.
