By late Monday afternoon, City-Parish Council Clerk Norma Dugas said 28 résumés had been submitted in the roughly two weeks since the council started accepting applicants - a less than enthusiastic response for a commission that will be tasked with reviewing the Lafayette City-Parish Home Rule Charter and recommending changes to the charter of abolishment of the charter and a return to dual city and parish forms of government.

Nine people will be chosen for the commission following interviews by the council - seven appoints will be made by the council, two will be made by City-Parish President Joey Durel. Five of the commission members must be registered voters living in the city limits of Lafayette; the other four must reside in unincorporated Lafayette Parish. Two commission members must be minorities. It's unclear what will happen if nine candidates meeting those criteria do not submit résumés by the noon Tuesday deadline.
