The state Board of Regents announced Wednesday distribution of more than $919 million in funding among the four systems of higher education in the state, with the University of Louisiana system, which includes UL Lafayette, getting a lion's share at $384.1 million in funding. The LSU system will receive $297.5 million, while the Louisiana Community & Technical College System and Southern University System are set to receive $174.5 million and $63.8 million respectively. The funding is for the 2010-2011 fiscal year, which begins Thursday, July 1. UL Lafayette will share the funding for the University of Louisiana System with UL Monroe, Southeastern Louisiana University, Louisiana Tech, Grambling State University, McNeese State University, Northwestern State University and Nicholls State University.

According to a Board of Regents press release:

The system funds are to be distributed to campuses by their management board using the new performance-based funding formula and taking into consideration the specific role, scope and mission of each institution.  Providing this flexibility allows the management boards to allocate funds to their campuses based on mission, enrollment growth and performance. In addition, the management boards can take into account circumstances unique to each institution, for instance, accreditation and other special initiatives.
