Coastal fashion for a good cause

by Mary Tutwiler

One rewarding way to help fisher families and other coastal residents who are victims of the oil spill is to purchase Louisiana-made items from designers who are contributing a portion of the proceeds to aid organizations. The Times-Picayune features New Orleans artists and craftsmen like jeweler Mignon Faget and haberdasher Perlis. Most items can be purchased on-line. Proceeds will go to Second Harvest of Greater New Orleans, the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana, The National Wildlife Federation and the Gulf Coast Oil Spill Fund created by the Greater New Orleans Foundation.

You can also contribute locally to Gulf Aid Acadiana through the Community Foundation of Acadiana.
