The Advocate reports today that LCG agreed to pay $23,000, plus court costs, to settle the case. Luque filed the suit in 2006, after former Chief Randy Hundley and three other officers were indicted on charges of conspiring to set up the illegal wiretap. Hundley resigned and pleaded guilty in 2008 to charges of attempted malfeasance in office, while charges against the other officers were dismissed. (Hundley has maintained his innocence.)
Luque has served as secretary to five Lafayette police chiefs (and still works for LCG under current Chief Jim Craft) and former District Attorney Nathan Stansbury. Her attorney, Jill Craft, did not return a call for comment this morning.
