This morning, local police and FBI are investigating an incident just outside of the Islamic Center of Lafayette. Police cars had blocked off part of the block in front of the center, and a wrecker was brought in to remove a burned out Toyota from the center's parking lot. Lafayette Police Department spokesmen Cpl. Paul Mouton says city police and the fire department responded to a call regarding a vehicle fire in the Islamic Center parking lot at about 1:15 a.m. Mouton says the fire department is conducting an arson investigation. "We did take an incident report and we are following up," Mouton adds. "And it's my understanding that the FBI is looking into it as well." Mouton referred all other questions to the fire department and FBI. Check back to theind.com for updates on this developing story.
