BOUDIN COOK-OFF
It's a Louisiana sausage kind of thing that you might not understand if you're not from here. If you like Cajun culture's squiggliest export, you're going to love the big Boudin Cook-Off in Parc Sans Souci in downtown Lafayette Oct. 16.

16. The cook-off, which benefits the Historic Preservation Alliance of Lafayette, will utilize more than a ton of boudin from 21 local meat markets for sampling. Now in its 3rd year, Lafayette's Boudin Cook-Off will bring together the top professional and amateur boudin makers from across Louisiana. Festivities include music by the Specklers and Thomas "Big Hat" Fields and His Footstompin' Zydeco Band, free fun jumps, free ice cream sandwiches from Borden's, cooking demos from Tony Chachere's cooking team, a free "boudin toss," a Boudin-eating contest, and free face painting. In addition, there will be food, product giveaways, prizes, refreshments and fun for the whole family. The boudin sampling begins at 10 a.m., and boudin sample tickets may be purchased for 50 cents. Ample free parking is available downtown adjacent to the park. The event is presented by BoudinLink.com and CajunGrocer.com, Downtown Lafayette, and the Lafayette Convention and Visitor's Commission.
