Lafayette Dems announce lifetime achievement honorees

Lafayette's first city-parish president, its first African American member of the City Council and the Louisiana Legislature and the state's first First Gentleman are among the recipients of the 2010 Lafayette Parish Democratic Executive Committee's Lifetime Achievement Awards.

Lafayette's first city-parish president, its first African-American member of the City Council and the Louisiana Legislature and the state's first First Gentleman are among the recipients of the 2010 Lafayette Parish Democratic Executive Committee's Lifetime Achievement Awards.

The local Democratic Party will honor the late Walter Comeaux, Wilfred Pierre, former state Rep. Clara Baudoin and Raymond "Coach" Blanco at its third annual Lifetime Achievement Awards Banquet, which will be held at the Holiday Inn on the Evangeline Thruway on Thursday, Oct. 21. State Rep. Fred Mills will emcee the event. Organizers are also trying to arrange for lieutenant governor candidate Caroline Fayard to appear and speak. Tickets are $35 and available through the Lafayette Democratic Party's website.
