The Lafayette City-Parish Council will vote Tuesday on an introductory ordinance that would require people who work as bouncers in bars within LCG's jurisdiction to undergo a training course and obtain and certificate similar to the "bar cards" issued to employees who serve alcohol.
The Lafayette City-Parish Council will vote Tuesday on an introductory ordinance that would require people who work as bouncers in bars within LCG's jurisdiction to undergo a training course and obtain and certificate similar to the "bar cards" issued to employees who serve alcohol. According to the ordinance, the training and certificate would cost $75 and would be valid for two years.
Failure to have a city-issued certificate while performing the duties of a bouncer would lead to a $300 fine and/or 15 days in jail. Convicted felons would be barred from obtaining a bouncer license.
A budget revision document attached to the ordinance estimates the bouncer certification program would generate $9,000 annually for LCG's general fund. If approved Tuesday, the ordinance will be voted on for final adoption on Nov. 2.
The council will also vote on three ordinances for final adoption that revise the pay plans for employees of the Lafayette Police Department, Lafayette Fire Department and City Marshal's Office.
