GOP getting organized

With just one week to go until the general elections, the Louisiana Republican Party will host a star-studded event Tuesday that looks suspiciously like a conservative pep rally. All of the top Republicans on the ballot will be giving speeches alongside the Republican members of the state's congressional delegation.

But Deputy Party Chairman Charlie Davis suggests it's much more than a celebration for the home team. With tickets ranging from $59 to $1,000, it's going to help bankroll get-out-the-vote, or GOTV, efforts. "The vast majority of the money raised will go toward our 72-hour GOTV plan and it'll really be the last time we can make a big push for money going into November," Davis says. He adds that the event will also provide the various Republican campaigns with an opportunity to coordinate strategies for different areas of the state.
