Festival of frogs

by Dege Legg

The city of Rayne hosts the annual Frog Festival.

Sometimes known as the "Louisiana City of Murals," but most popularly known as the "Frog Capital of the World," Rayne hosts their annual Frog Festival. It's a big shindig with a lot of music and frogs. And people. In addition there will be a beauty pageant, a fitness frog run, poker run, some unicycles, arts & crafts, a grand parade, and a ton of live music from Geno Delafose &  French Rockin' Boogie, Jackie Callier/Ivy Dugas & Cajun Cousins, John Conlee, Chubby Carrie, Drew Zaunbrecher, Jamie Bergeron & The Kickin' Cajuns, Bucky Covington, and more. It all goes down Nov. 12-14 in Rayne under the cover of the 20,000 sq. Festival Pavilion.
