BP oil spill tops Yahoo's list of most popular subjects at the website.


The Gulf lost, but real news won over celebrity clap-trap in Yahoo's 2010 Year in Review. The list culls the most popular searches conducted at combined with the top stories and topics of the year, giving insight into people's  interests. According to the 2010 Yahoo Year in Review, interest in the BP oil spill and its effects on the Gulf, was more popular than the public's ever present obsession with celebrity meltdowns, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, and techy phone gadgets. Concern over the BP Gulf oil spill also trumped unemployment, the economy, and the World Cup on the annual list.
