Chicago group buying Lafayette Surgical hospital

National Surgical Hospitals is buying a majority interest in Lafayette Surgical Specialty Hospital. National Surgical Hospitals is buying a majority interest in Lafayette Surgical Specialty Hospital.

Chicago-based NSH, founded in 1998, is an owner, operator and developer of surgical hospitals and surgery centers in partnership with local physicians. Its 56.9 percent purchase of LSSH increases to 15 the number of surgical hospitals owned and operated by the NSH nationwide. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

LSSH, which has been on the sale block for a couple of years, opened in 2004 on Kaliste Saloom Road with a core group of orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, pain management practitioners and ENT specialists. It now has 32 physician partners who will remain investors and operators of the facility after the transaction is complete in early February. The 75,000-square-foot hospital includes eight operating rooms, two treatment rooms and 20 inpatient beds.
