Michigan, Miles meeting Tuesday?

The Detroit Free Press and other media reported Monday that Michigan is expected to speak with LSU coach Les Miles on Tuesday about its vacant football coaching job. The Detroit Free Press and other media reported Monday that the University of Michigan is expected to speak with LSU coach Les Miles on Tuesday about its vacant football coaching job. The Detroit paper cited an unnamed source with knowledge of the meeting.

Miles is scheduled to be in Dallas to make a presentation Tuesday afternoon during the American Football Coaches Association's annual convention. Miles' agent, The Times-Picayune noted, is based in Dallas. The Detroit paper is reporting that the rampant speculation has prompted a fan frenzy game of trying to track the private air travel of Michigan Athletic Director Dave Brandon.

Miles' contract with LSU runs through the 2014 season. He makes $3.7 million annually and would have to pay the university a $1.25 million buyout if he leaves, according to the T-P.

The Detroit paper reports that the 57-year-old has long stated his love for Michigan and, as a former player and assistant coach, has an extended association with the school. He played and coached under Bo Schembechler.
