Harson would not comment on the matter Friday, as he had not yet had an opportunity to review the report, which he said had just been faxed to him. On Monday the audit of the Lafayette Housing Authority was posted on the legislative auditor's website.
The audit covers problems with the LHA's Disaster Housing Assistance Program, in particular the contract with former City-Parish Councilman Chris Williams, and questions the legality of ex-Executive Director Walter Guillory working for two housing authorities, Lafayette and Opelousas, at the same time. It also notes instances where LHA employees or immediate family members appeared to have entered into contractual relationships with housing authority (in likely violation of state law), questions the use of state grant funds and credit cards and points out possible violations of U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development guidelines in hiring professional service vendors.
