State Sen.-elect Jonathan Perry, R-Kaplan, got his marching orders from Senate President Joel Chaisson. Perry has been assigned to the Senate's Insurance Committee, Local & Municipal Affairs Committee, Retirement Committee, Judiciary C Committee and Select Committee on Veterans Affairs.
Perry, the former District 47 state representative, defeated Democratic businessman and Vermilion Parish Police Juror Nathan Granger last weekend to win the state Senate District 26 seat vacated by Nick Gautreaux.
The districts represents parts of Acadia, Lafayette, St. Landry and Vermilion parishes.
