Music & Market spring 2011 schedule

Opelousas' Music & Market announces its spring 2011 season.

Lafayette isn't the only city in Acadiana with its own seasonal music series. Don't forget Opelousas. The city's Music & Market series has become a popular staple in downtown Opelousas, combining live Louisiana music with home grown food, art and commerce in an outdoor setting. Music & Market series is a free outdoor concert, showcasing products from local farmers and Louisiana music.

The City of Opelousas Tourism Office has announced a new season of Music & Market beginning April 1 through May 27. Eight bands featuring popular Louisiana music styles including zydeco, Cajun, swamp pop and blues will fill the spring line-up along with local farmers showcasing home grown vegetables for purchase.

Music & Market takes place in downtown Opelousas (5:30- 8:30 p.m.) at Farmer's Market Pavilion located in Le Vieux Village at 828 East Landry Street, Opelousas, LA with live music performances beginning at 6 p.m.

The spring Music & Market series is made possible by a grant from the Acadiana Arts Center and the Louisiana Division of the Arts.
