Multiple sclerosis is a terrible disease, yet eating burgers to raise money to fight it? Awesome.
Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.the Justice Grillin' Hamburger Cook-Off happens in River Ranch Town Square. It's only $5 to get in and you get to eat all the hamburgers you wish. Teams from around town, and any restaurant, office or group can compete, get together and compete to be chosen for the best burger. The public gets to vote and there is a panel of judges as well. The burgers are usually cut into smaller pieces so you can try several types without getting too full.
The band Side Show will be performing.
To quote the official site, "Funds raised go to the Southwest Louisiana MS Foundation, founded by the late Dr. Robert Martinez, to provide direct support, education and assistance to local MS patients. Justice Grillin' is held in memory of Dr. Martinez, whose tireless and compassionate efforts helped many of those afflicted with this chronic, incurable and often debilitating disease."
So for $5 you get live music, all the burgers you can eat, and you get to contribute to finding a treatment for multiple sclerosis? This is the kind of altruism South Louisiana is famous for.
