Animanga club starting in Carencro

by Anna Purdy

Those who know it, love it. Those who don't get confused by all the tentacles. It's anime, folks.

Anime, also known as animanga if you are speaking of comic books or cartoons, started in Japan and traipsed over here to the delight of people who like brightly colored bits of art with talking animals, stilted speech and often a bizarre view of American culture.

Anime has been around roughly a century, it's popularity booming in the U.S. for the past generation or two. On Wednesday the North Regional Library in Carencro is hosting a Teen Animanga Club at 6 p.m.. Teens will view clips from new anime and have a discussion regarding favorites. Snacks and soft drinks will be offered. Call 896-6323 with any questions.
