Dege Legg IS a Catch

After Marc Broussard and GIVERS each performed on "The George Lopez Show" and "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" last night, respectively, more local-kid-made-good news: Dege Legg's music is going to be the theme of Discovery Channel's "After the Catch."

Dege's song "Hard Row to Hoe" has been licensed for use as the theme song for the post-season spinoff of "Deadliest Catch" called "After the Catch." The show is about life in the Bering Sea aboard a fishing boat for snow and king crabs. It's known as one of the most dangerous jobs in the world, but the rewards for coming back alive and with enough bounty are great since each fisherman can make enough revenue to last a year for roughly one month of work. It's dangerous enough that the Coast Guard has people at the ready specifically to rescue crab boats.

"After the Catch" is a roundtable documentary-style television mini-series that follows the crew of the boats after they return to land. The men swap anecdotes about life on the boat. Last year's "After the Catch" was filmed in New Orleans at the Blue Nile.

Said Dege to us via email: "The producers of 'Deadliest Catch' just called me up out of nowhere got my cell number off the internet and asked if they could use the song. I was a fan of the show, so was like Hell yeah!'"
