We're not on his mailing list, so it's news to us: District 3 Councilman Brandon Shelvin is seeking re-election this fall to a second term on the City-Parish Council. Confirmation via an invitation to a reelection party/fundraiser Thursday evening at a downtown Lafayette restaurant came our way from a source, and it's an expensive affair for supporters, who are evidently expected to make donations ranging from $250 to $1,000.

The fĂȘte is being hosted by Shelvin's longtime business mentor, Wayne Elemore, and, oddly, Michael LeBlanc, owner of the conservative south Lafayette Parish newspaper The Acadiana Gazette.
