Beebe announces BESE bid

St. Martin school administrator seeks state school board job.

Lottie Beebe, the current director of human resources for the St. Martin Parish School System and a longtime Acadiana teacher and school administrator, has announced her bid to seek the District 3 seat on the state Board of Elementary and Secondary Education. The district comprises a swath of southeast Louisiana from St. Landry and Point Coupee through the coastal parishes to Plaquesmines and St. Bernard.

Beebe is working toward her doctorate in educational leadership through UL Lafayette and Southeastern University Consortium and currently serves as president of the Louisiana Association of School Personnel Administrators.

In a press release touting her candidacy, Beebe says she understands "that one of the most critical attributes to a person's success is effective communication. If given the opportunity to serve as a member of BESE, I will have an open door policy and well be receptive to hearing all sides; however, as your representative, my first responsibility is to make the best decisions at the state level to ensure that our students at the local levels are afforded a quality education."

Longtime District 3 BESE member Glenny Lee Buquet is not seeking re-election.
