Lafayette's legal community and guests gathered for the Lafayette Young Lawyers Association Installation of Officers and New Attorney Reception at La Fonda. At the always well-attended event, Steven Ramos of the Onebane Law Firm was installed as LYLA president for 2011-12. Attorneys welcomed new colleagues into the legal fold with lots of margaritas, sangria, half-and-halfs and a great spread of Mexican food. Onebane, IberiaBank Private Banking and Jamie A. Roy Certified Stenotype Reporters sponsored the festive event. Spotted in the crowd were Judge Marilyn and Jack Castle, Lafayette Bar President Andre Douget and wife Nora Stelly and LBA past president Miles Matt and wife Glenda.

Crawfish Town USA executive chef Colt Patin was one of five chefs statewide chosen this year as a Chef to Watch by Louisiana Cookin' magazine. The five chefs were honored at a dinner Aug. 22 at Harrah's Casino in New Orleans. Crawfish Town USA owners Wendy and Johnny Hebert also attended the even, as did Charlie and Del Goodson. Charlie, owner of Charley G's, was presented with the humanitarian award. The magazine recognizes community leaders from throughout Louisiana for their pilanthropic endeavors and who have "contributed to the betterment of communities where they have a business presence."
