Beginning this week, AURA offers "Fundamentals of Improvisational Theater" for kids.
Plato said, "You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation." Improv is the art of acting in the moment and saying "yes!" to whatever comes next. This class is offered to kids ages 8-14. Instead of traditional acting of reading a script, memorizing and rehearsals, kids are given scenarios to act within and encouraged to play.
Local actors Lauren Auverset and Elaine Kibodeaux will be teaching the classes. They begin Wednesday night and continue every Wednesday in October from 5:30 p.m. for approximately one hour.
"Improv is more than the show Whose Line Is It Anyway?" says Kibodeaux. "Improv teaches actors how to develop a character, and our students will learn how to create clean and believable characters without using a script."

Update: First class begins Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 5:30 p.m. and is now accepting actors 8 years old and up.
