Where is Vince Pierre employed?

by Heather Miller

The House District 44 candidate's campaign has repeatedly said that Vince Pierre is co-owner of a dry cleaning business, though a manager for Dry Clean Super Center says Pierre is not an owner or co-owner of the business.

When ULL journalism professor Dr. Robert Buckman asked House District 44 candidate Vince Pierre's campaign on Monday what Pierre "does for a living," his campaign representative asserted before Monday's candidate debate that Pierre is co-owner of a dry cleaning business. But a manager for Dry Clean Super Center, the dry cleaning company name listed on Pierre's LinkedIn profile, says Pierre is not an owner or co-owner of the business, which could be why Pierre's LinkedIn profile says he is no longer employed by the company.

Pierre's professional networking profile lists Pierre as a managing partner for Dry Clean Super Center from July 2005 until March 2011, also listing his current employment as a land man for Beta Land Services. When reached by phone Thursday, a Beta Land Services employee said Pierre has not been employed there since Sept. 8 of this year.

Pierre, according to The Daily Advertiser's coverage of a debate between him and incumbent District 44 state rep. Rickey Hardy, "hammered home" his business background as a means to trump Hardy's qualifications, though his campaign rep was less than truthful to the debate moderator over his employment and business ties. Pierre has asserted since announcing his candicacy in June that he is, in fact, a co-owner of a dry cleaning business.
