The Thanksgiving holiday weekend serves up the world premiere of Louisiana Crossroads' Songs from the Coast, Acadiana Center for the Arts' new film series.

Louisiana Crossroads is a music series that is now in its 12th season. Its mission is to bring high quality performances that showcase regional musicians. Songs from the Coast will highlight these Crossroads performances, showing the musicians on stage and interspersed with personal interviews. It runs close to one hour. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Nov. 25 and 4:30 p.m. Nov. 27 at AcA.

This first episode features Irma Thomas' performance at the AcA this past June as well as Allen Toussaint with the Preservation Jazz Band and Sonny Landreth playing at AcA. DL Menard, who will also be playing after the premiere with Jeffrey Broussard, is shown performing in Songs from the Coast.

The goal of this program is to eventually get it picked up by a network so our homegrown musicians can be shown off nationally and internationally. Think of it as our own Austin City Limits, but more awesome.

Ticket prices start at $15 and can be bought online at AcA's site or by calling 233-7060. This includes the premiere, the zydeco show, a Q&A with the filmmakers and refreshments.
