Blood donations are desperately needed. Much like the United Blood Services we blogged about on Tuesday, Our Lady of Lourdes is hoping to lure generous donors with some fancy duds. Donate some blood to this nonprofit and choose between a "Couyon Cajun" shirt and a Saints shirt.
"Blood stays here in South Louisiana," says Wendy Moore, blood donor recruiter for Our Lady of Lourdes. "It isn't sold off." She adds, "The medical community can do amazing things like grow ears but they can't make blood." Very good point.
Mobile blood donation centers are in Branch Friday and Saturday in Rayne and Duson. You can donate blood anytime 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays. And here is the kicker: if you give blood Lourdes reimburses you so much per pint on your hospital bill. Just bring the bill in when you donate and they knock some off your bill. Want to help a friend or family member? Bring their bill in. How much is dependent on several factors but every little bit helps. A Lourdes staff member can give you a more succinct answer.
