The rundown was compiled by Ind contributing writer Jeremy Alford for The Political Desk, a website devoted to coverage of Louisiana news and politics founded by Baton Rouge businessman and education-reform supporter Lane Grigsby. Alford's list shows that more than two dozen current members of the Legislature including seven senators were once employed as teachers or school board members in public schools or employed in the state public-university system.
