A new rundown of ties to public education by members of Legislature call into question whether Gov. Bobby Jindal will have the sweeping support he needs for widespread systemic reform of public education in Louisiana.

Gov. Bobby Jindal now has the state Board of Elementary and Secondary education stacked with like-minded reformers. But a new rundown of ties to public education by members of Legislature call into question whether Jindal will have the sweeping support he needs for widespread systemic reform of public education in Louisiana.

The rundown was compiled by Ind contributing writer Jeremy Alford for The Political Desk, a website devoted to coverage of Louisiana news and politics founded by Baton Rouge businessman and education-reform supporter Lane Grigsby. Alford's list shows that more than two dozen current members of the Legislature including seven senators were once employed as teachers or school board members in public schools or employed in the state public-university system.
