N.O. Bowl Update Saturday, 12/17, 7:50 p.m.

NEW ORLEANS For the most part, UL's football team avoided the catastrophic injury bug for most of the 2011 season.

So naturally, the Ragin' Cajuns got hit hard even before Saturday night's' kickoff of the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.

Senior linebacker Devon Lewis-Buchanan of Riviera Beach, Fla., the number two tackler on the season for the Cajuns, dislocated a kneecap during pregame warmups on the Superdome turf. Lewis-Buchanan, who had 78 tackles and 10 ½ tackles for losses during the season, was carried off the field and is out for the game.

Lewis-Buchanan had started all 12 games this season. Justin Anderson, a sophomore from Foley, Ala.,  moved into the starting lineup when another regular linebacker, Le'Marcus Gibson was lost for the season with an injury at Arkansas State. Anderson will move from his "Bandit" linebacker starting position to Lewis-Buchanan's "Rover" spot. It's unsure who will start at "Bandit" but it could be senior end Chris Tucker.
