Bertrand appoints Doise to CAC

Recent City-Parish Council candidate Jared Doise has been appointed to the Citizens Action Committee, a component of the Metropolitan Planning Organization, by District 7 Councilman Don Bertrand. The CAC is one of the first groups to review such aspects of planning as federal grants, along with the Transportation Policy Committee and the Transportation Technical Committee, that eventually end up before the MPO, which currently comprises the council but will expand soon to include elected and appointed officials from neighboring parishes.

The CAC was the first group under the umbrella of Lafayette Consolidated Government to review the SafeLight program, among other things. Doise is replacing a former Bertrand appointee to the CAC who was term-limited.

"It's a great place for Jared," Bertrand says. "He's very level-headed, respectful and thoughtful."

Doise lost to Andy Naquin in the Nov. 20 runoff for the District 6 seat on the council and is the owner of the Legends bars in Lafayette.
