There's growing chatter among Republicans in the state that the delayed GOP presidential caucus, originally scheduled for Feb. 25, may be part of some plot to, A) benefit Gov. Bobby Jindal's national political aspirations or, B) stymie libertarian Ron Paul's grassroots efforts to capture the nomination. The caucus might be held as late as April, by which time a de facto nominee could be well established.
Conservative website The Dead Pelican, citing north Louisiana radio host Moon Griffon, is speculating that Jindal is holding up the caucus in a bid to secure running mate status with current frontrunner Mitt Romney. But a second conservative group in the state, Tax Payers of Louisiana, evidently believes it is a fear of Ron Paul that his holding up the caucus.
