Free Jazz Fest tickets application

Louisiana has a strong tradition of offering music performances for free and it is in that spirit that New Orleans' Jazz Fest is offering free tickets through social service organizations that apply to distribute them.

Louisiana has a strong tradition of offering music performances for free and it is in that spirit that New Orleans' Jazz Fest is offering free tickets through social service organizations that apply to distribute them.

Jazz Fest takes place annually the last weekend of April and the first weekend of May. The tickets range from by the day to one whole weekend, to two weekends and all the way up to VIP tickets. Those who don't score as high on the income bracket -- many of whom are artists and musicians -- simply cannot afford the ticket prices. This is where the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Foundation comes in.

Social service organizations like nonprofits, educational institutions, religious organizations or government agencies that serve the community can apply to get a specific number of tickets to give to the people they help. The applications deadline date is March 2.

There is also a program called School Day at the Fest. Pre-kindergarten through eighth grade students are given the opportunity to attend through their schools' applications for the program.

Go to the official website here for more information about applying or call the foundation at 504- 410-4100. Check out the Jazz Fest line-up here.
