The Community Foundation is one of five regional partners in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida selected by Rockerfeller Philanthropy Advisors to distribute millions in grants.
The Community Foundation of Acadiana has partnered with Rockerfeller Philanthropy Advisors to grant nearly $3 million to 18 nonprofit organizations in the Acadiana area to assist communities impacted by the 2010 BP oil spill. RFA chose CFA to administer the grant program due to Community Foundation's expertise in grant distribution and its proximity to the disaster. In response, CFA established the Fund for Gulf Communities to distribute the grant money, which were entrusted to RPA from an anonymous donor. The Community Foundation is one of five regional partners in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida selected by RPA.
"It is indeed a testament to the capacity of Community Foundation of Acadiana and its role as a trusted and honest broker to be invited by Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors to assist with this magnanimous project," says Raymond Hebert, CFA's president and CEO, in a press release announcing the grants. "A generous donor we will never know wants to benefit a population he or she will never meet. We are absolutely honored to help this donor meet this specific objective."
