Cobb, Landry seek Ethics fine waivers

by Walter Pierce

Each was issued a fine by the board for filing personal financial disclosures late.

Lafayette Parish School Board member Shelton Cobb and freshman state Rep. Terry Landry are expected to have fines issued against them by the Louisiana Ethics Board waived when the board gathers Friday for its monthly meeting.

Each was issued a fine by the board for filing personal financial disclosure forms late. Cobb faces a $700 fine while Landry, who was elected in a runoff last November to represent the newly created House District 96, faces a $2,500 fine. Board attorney Tracy Barker, according to Ethics Board documents, is recommending Landry's fine be rescinded and Cobb's be suspended. Landry cited frequent travel to Houston for his wife's health during the reporting period in question.
