Artist Lue Svendson coaxed renowned Provincetown, Mass., painter Lawrence Young to come down to Breaux Bridge to display his oil in wax paintings at her Rue du Pont gallery.

Crimson-swathed ladies and well-dressed gentlemen packed the Lafayette Hilton for the 2012 Go Red for Women Luncheon. Participants in the Personally Fit Challenge were recognized by challenge leader Dawn Foreman, and The Independent presented challenger Theresa Thurston, the "Most Inspirational" to this year's participants, with a red enamel jewelry box from Vivian Alexander.
Wonderful wine from Philippe's Wine Cellar got participants in a spirited mood for their free screenings at the Wine and Wellness Event at the CIS Opelousas Clinic. Attendees got screenings for ankle brachial index and BMI testing. CIS's knowledgeable docs were on hand to answer questions.
