Michael Sandlin's permit to keep the animal expired at the end of last year.
The Animal Legal Defense Fund, nemesis to Grosse Tete tiger warden Michael Sandlin, filed suit late last week to force the state Department of Wildlife and Fisheries to remove Sandlin's tiger from the enclosure at his Tiger Truck Stop off Interstate 10. The ALDF successfully sued the state last year, requesting and being granted a permanent injunction against Wildlife and Fisheries and forcing the agency to revoke Sandlin's permit to keep the 11-year-old Siberian-Bengal tiger named Tony at the truck stop. Sandlin's permit to keep the animal expired at the end of last year.
Sandlin argues the action by the state doesn't have constitutional grounds to remove the tiger and has filed suit.
