Among the many bills on the state House of Representatives' order of the day Monday is House Bill 746, which would designate the pirogue as the state boat of Louisiana. According to the bill by Rep. Charles Chaney, R-Rayville: "There shall be an official state boat, which shall be the pirogue. The use of its likeness or image on official documents of the state and with the insignia of the state is hereby authorized."
