According to a news release from MidSouth, the Lafayette-based bank's new Carencro branch will be located at 800 Veterans Boulevard across the street from the U.S. Postal Service office.

Former MidSouth bank officer and branch manager Yvette George-Bernard, a Carencro native who has spent the past four years working as a dual branch manager for Regions Bank in Lafayette, is returning to MidSouth to serve as assistant vice president/banking center manager for the Carencro location.

"It's exciting and rewarding to return to MidSouth Bank and be a part of its expansion into my home town," Bernard says in the release. "I am looking forward to reconnecting with my MidSouth Bank customers and developing new banking relationships with my friends and business associates throughout the Carencro community."

The new location, according to the release, will be a 1,400-square-foot facility with two teller walk-ups and three drive-thru lanes. When it opens in October, the new branch will be MidSouth's 10th location in Lafayette Parish.

MidSouth boasts 40 offices throughout Louisiana and Texas. The bank reported $1.4 billion in assets as of March 31.
