On the Move: Heather Harper

Longtime health care administrator named CEO at Acadia General Hospital in Crowley

Heather L. Harper had joined Lafayette General Health as CEO of Acadia General Hospital in Crowley, effective June 16.

Harper will oversee the transition of Acadia General Hospital (formerly American Legion Hospital) from American Legion Corp. to Lafayette General Health, which signed an agreement in May to take over management of the hospital starting June 1.

Harper is the COO at Southern Tennessee Medical and Emerald Hodgson Hospital in Winchester, Tenn., and has extensive experience in hospital administration. She previously served as CEO at Hillside Hospital in Pulaski, Tenn., as CEO/administrator at Phillips County Health Systems in Phillipsburg, Kan., and as assistant administrator/ethics compliance officer at Central Arkansas Hospital in Searcy, Ark.

Harper describes her key strengths to be in management, training and problem resolution.

She earned her master's degree in health services administration from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and her bachelor's degree in human services from Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Ark.
