ConocoPhillips honors XstremeMD

Lafayette-based XstremeMD, a remote health care provider for the oil and gas industry, was recognized by ConocoPhillips as part of its Supplier Recognition Award program. The award honors companies that exhibit exceptional leadership in support of the long-term health of the company, the environment and the communities where ConocoPhillips operates. XstremeMD received the “Safety” award for establishing telemedicine capabilities in the Eagle Ford to provide full-service occupational medicine to ConocoPhillips employees and business partners working in this rapidly developing, remote onshore area. Previously, the nearest facility was more than an hour away. Since implementation, response time between incidents and treatment has been reduced significantly, further diminishing severity and recovery time. These emergency and non-emergency service offerings, including X-rays, pulmonary function tests and prescriptions, are improving health and safety in this key operating area. The implementation was so successful that other operators and contractors are utilizing the venture, significantly reducing the cost to ConocoPhillips. This model is now being applied in other ConocoPhillips Lower 48 operating areas.

CORE Institute expands to Lafayette

The CORE Institute has moved into the Louisiana market by partnering with the orthopedic surgeons and specialists at Louisiana Orthopaedic Specialists. The Lafayette practice has been renamed The CORE Institute at Louisiana Orthopaedic Specialists.

“The CORE Institute achieved their mission of bringing a new standard of excellence to surgical care in Arizona and Michigan, and we are excited to expand the same in Louisiana,” says Louisiana Orthopaedic Specialists CEO Michael Prejean. LOS says it is currently the largest orthopedic subspecialty practice in Southwestern Louisiana.

Since its inception in 2005, Phoenix-based The CORE Institute has grown to more than 150 care providers and approximately 700 employees.

It delivers integrated, comprehensive orthopedic and neurological care and is built upon a foundation of pioneering research, academics, community service and excellence in patient care.
