The national magazines tell us it's time to fall into glorious fall fashion — rich hues and lux fabrics. But, my weather app begs to differ. For all the fashionistas still sweating it out here in South Louisiana, ASK AMANDA is for you today.

I have these really amazing pair of work pants that are a burgundy wine color. As a matter of fact, I have a ton of awesome winter colored business pieces. How can I pair these items with summer fun wardrobe pieces to make a great outfit?

Help a girl out,

Dearest Skyra,

The good news is that in this neck of the woods, many retailers know you want to get all fall while summer temps are still blazing. Meaning they often buy summer weight clothing in fall colors.

Wine is huge for fall. I love it paired with blush and some pearls or a black beaded necklace. Turquoise is a summer staple that in just the right hue can work with a deep red. Just add a gold necklace for an eclectic vibe.

One easy transition piece that I always get my money's worth from? The kimono. I like this neutral one from Vanessa V. that works now with a lightweight tank underneath and easily into cooler temps with a thicker fabrication on top.

The other great transitional piece is the multi-colored lightweight tunic. Go solo with it now with lightweight bottoms. When temps cool wear it with hearty denim or leggings and top with a vest (fur always works) to stay warm. I love these tops from Hemline for versatility.

Whatever your personal style, prints in light fabrics with a multitude of colors — in both pants and tops — transition from now until later. Just add layers.
