The Continuing Education Department at South Louisiana Community College is offering a private eye course in November that will train students to become licensed private investigators. Class participants will learn how information is gathered and used in the investigative process, obtain basic investigative skills and prepare for the state’s Private Investigator Exam. This course is required by law for a state private investigator’s license. The training manual will be provided on the first night of class for a fee of $30 to be paid by check or money order. An additional fee of $50 will be required to take the Louisiana Private Investigator Exam on the last day. Average hourly salary for private investigators in the Acadiana region is $27.36. The class meets on Fridays from 6-10 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dates are Nov. 6 - Nov. 15. (Two weekends) Course fee is $350, and course instructor is Ed Roy. Molly Metzger has joined the staff of ad agency Prejean Creative as a graphic designer. Metzger provides design and production skills to support various projects on behalf of agency clients.

The Slidell native earned a bachelor of fine arts degree from UL Lafayette, with a concentration in graphic design, in spring 2015. An accomplished illustrator, Metzger’s “Bayou Spirits Whiskey” project earned the Student Best of Show ADDY award earlier this year. She also served as vice president of the student chapter of the American Institute of Graphic Arts.

Jason Brown has joined Acadian Total Security as sales manager. Brown oversees sales for home and business security systems, personal medical alert systems and fleet management solutions. He also manages ATS’ inside and outside sales teams. Brown has more than 16 years of sales and sales management experience in the retail electric, industrial software and telecommunications industries. His previous employers include Champion Energy and Electric Reliability Council of Texas. Brown is a graduate of the University of Texas with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and management.

Charles J. Boudreaux Jr. of the Jones Walker law firm has been elected board president of the New Cardiovascular Horizons Foundation through July 2017. NCVH is a nonprofit with the primary mission of facilitating medical education for physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, administrators and other interested individuals, and demonstrating new procedures, technologies and treatments for the betterment of public health. The nonprofit conducts single and multi-day educational seminars, as well as an annual conference, with the goal of enhancing patient care by sharing the latest and most effective methods of care and treatment in the cardiovascular fields. Boudreaux is special counsel on the firm’s health care team in the Lafayette office. He began his health care practice in 1980. The majority of his practice has been the defense of health care providers in medical malpractice litigation, risk management, and transactional and regulatory health care matters. He has tried dozens of medical malpractice jury trials to conclusion in both state and federal courts.

Dinah LeBlanc has joined JD Bank as a mortgage executive and vice president. LeBlanc is based at the bank’s Lafayette branch located at 300 Verot School Road. The New Iberia native has more than 20 years of banking experience, having previously worked at Chase Bank, Investar Bank and First Bank and Trust. LeBlanc serves on the ambassador team of One Acadiana and is also a member of the Realtor Association of Acadiana.

Broussard-based Loadmaster Derrick & Equipment has announced the hire of Ogden “Jeff” Myklebust II as its new president and CEO. A graduate of Sam Houston State University, Myklebust has more than three decades experience in industrial manufacturing, distribution and field service experience. He previously served as senior vice president for Leader Gasket Technologies as well as president of International Gasket & Supply, helping expand the former’s brand presence and manufacturing operations to become global suppliers to such powerhouses as Shell Global Solutions, Valero Energy and Dow Chemical.

LQT Industries was awarded two projects to upgrade and refurbish single lift accommodations that house a total of 320 personnel on a drill ship and a semisubmersible located in the Gulf of Mexico.

LQT’s scope of work includes site inspection, work scope development, material procurement, project management, and the provision of skilled labor to remodel, refurbish and upgrade the living areas of the facilities. The company also was awarded a contract for the construction of an E-House, a temporary living quarters building and a work station for use on a platform off the coast of Trinidad. This project is one of the largest project awards for LQT this year and highlights its growing international presence. Work on the contracts will take place at the company’s Abbeville facility. All of the projects should be completed this year.
