Finally there is a blue sky in Friday’s forecast. But, with Louisiana weather what it is, we are keeping our fingers crossed in the hope that Bach Lunch and Downtown Alive will proceed with their schedules after being rained out last week.
Friday at noon., Bach Lunch will present the 2016 Grammy Award-nominated swamp poppers The Revelers. The band features musicians Daniel Coolik on fiddle/guitar, Glen Fields on drums, Blake Miller, accordion and fiddle, Chas Justus, guitar, Eric Frey, bass and Chris Miller, saxophone.
Food for Bach Lunch will be provided by Great Harvest Bread Co., Joey’s Speciality Foods and O’Charley’s. Food is first come first serve, starting at 11:15 a.m. at Parc Sans Souci.
Friday evening Zydeco Radio is scheduled to perform at Downtown Alive! starting at 6 p.m.. They may be new, but they have become a quick favorite. They were voted Downtown Lafayette’s favorite band of 2015 after only one year of performing. Band members Billy McDonald on accordion, Bob Brahan on guitar, Seth Rung on bass, Charles Brent Jr. on drums and Trent Oubre on the washboard work to bring traditional zydeco along with rock riffs and incredible solos to the stage to make a one-of-a-kind performance.
“We play a zydeco hybrid of some sort,” laughs bassist Seth Rung. “Zydeco’s at the root of it all, but we have a lot of rock, a lot of blues, a lot of energy.”
