Since 2012, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving has been designated as The National Day of Giving (#GivingTuesday), and in that spirit we thank all those who supported the many INDStyle events that raised money for seven local nonprofits this fall. A total of $3,630 has been divided between seven local nonprofit organizations, including the Boys & Girls Clubs of Acadiana, Catholic Services of Acadiana, Go Red for Women (local chapter of American Heart Association), Healing House, Hospice of Acadiana, The United Way of Acadiana, and the705, which donated its portion to Festivals Acadiens et Creoles.

Participating fashion retailers, including Aria, Brother’s on the Blvd., Genterie Supply, HerringStone’s, Little Town and Vanessa V, each donated a minimum of 10 percent of their sales from a designated day of shopping to a partner organization.

The Independent also donated 10 percent of ticket sales from the Oct. 26 runway style show into the pool. In addition to the cash contribution, non-profit representatives credit the promotion with building awareness for their respective missions in the community and creating new relationships with owners and customers in a key local business sector.
